The Project
Lord English and his Ship of Fools is a new project seeking passionate players who are interested in shaping a fresh, good time party atmosphere with soulful anthems, sharp melodies, driving energy delivered with a polished performance focus.
What we're aiming for
To build a cohesive ensemble that blends classic pop/rock indie hits to drive an atmosphere of high-impact party music for corporate functions, select bars and festivals.
Influences and tone
Broad melodic choruses, cinematic synth layers, polished production, and live-ready attitude inspired by Brit-Pop anthems and classic tunes from both sides of the Atlantic.

Who We're Looking For
Talented musicians who can commit, collaborate, and bring energy to the creative process.
- Bassist — melodic low-end, locking with drums, modern tone
- Guitarist — rhythm and lead chops, texture, and stage energy
- Keys / Synth — modern sound design, pads, hooks, and atmosphere
- *** NOTE: Everyone must contribute to simple backing vocals. The songs in the vocal samples (link below) will give you examples of the backing vocals we are looking for ***
- Commitment to weekly practice and performance readiness

To give you a guide of the direction for this band, take a look at the YouTube Playlist below. There's a diverse range of songs here, but all of them are pop classics and it's what we're going to be focusing on, songs that are considered 'popular'.
It's true that some of the songs are 'cheesy', but we need to take a mix to keep the audience happy and to encourage repeat bookings and a repution for delivering a great evening's entertainment.
Also note, none of the songs in this playlist are yet fixed. Some may not work with the vocals, or they just don't work for this band. This will be something we discover in rehearsals.
Vocal Samples
Click on the button below where you can listen to the vocals of Lord English. These were rough recordings against Youtube karoke tracks as a 'test' to see what works, vocally. Again, it is not yet decided if these songs will make the final set, something we'll discover in rehearsals.
Target Audience
This project is not another rock, jazz or blues band, neither will it be a platform for our own songs. The focus is on targeting popular music lovers across select bars, alternative venues, festivals and especially corporate events, specifically aiming at an audience who enjoys a trip down 'memory lane' with emotive tunes, a big chorus and the party anthems we all grew up with..!
